Konstantinos I. Chatzifotis, EU Affairs Manager of Motor Oil Group represented the TRIĒRĒS project, awarded as the “H2 Valley of year 2024”, in his capacity as project coordinator, at the High-Level Policy Conference Session 12: Panel debate – From Hydrogen Valleys to Hydrogen Economies, part of the very successful European Hydrogen Week 2024 that took place on 20-24/11/2024 in Brussels.
This session brought together leading voices to explore the evolution of Hydrogen Valleys and the transformative role they play in Europe’s journey toward a sustainable hydrogen economy.

During the panel, Konstantinos Chatzifotis shared insights on:

  • Building strong partnerships with off-takers to ensure long-term project viability.
  • Promoting transparency, scalability, and reliability in hydrogen infrastructure.
  • Leveraging innovative funding models, including EU and national co-financing, to accelerate development.

To streamline EU and national public funding access, Konstantinos Chatzifotis emphasized the need for clearer pathways for combining grants, loans, and guarantees to maximize impact.

TRIĒRĒS Valley is already fostering impactful collaborations with public entities, such as the partnership with O.SY. S.A. (ΟΔΙΚΕΣ ΣΥΓΚΟΙΝΩΝΙΕΣ Α.Ε.) to integrate hydrogen-powered buses into Attica’s public transport fleet, as well as the Municipality of Loutraki-Perachora-Agioi Theodoroi to become the first local authority in Greece to possess a hydrogen-powered passenger vehicle, both supported by Clean Hydrogen Partnership co-funding.

Sincere thanks to the EU Hydrogen Week 2024 organizers and the fellow panelists for a thought-provoking exchange.
