Recently, the trade magazine TRAKTUELL published an article in its 4/2025 issue about EMPL‘s hydrogen-powered refrigerated body, which was specially developed for Austria’s first Hyundai Xcient 6×2 FCE truck. The truck, which runs emission-free on hydrogen will be used by MPREIS in the future, with significant support from JuVe Automotion GmbH, which brought the vehicle onto Austria’s roads for the first time. Its fuel – hydrogen – is produced on site in Völs at the water electrolysis plant of MPREIS Hydrogen.
The FCE truck is part of the flagship R&D project WIVA P&G HyWest, which is funded by the Austrian Climate & Energy Fund and led by FEN Sustain Systems GmbH, based at the Green Energy Center Europe. The vehicle’s operation is also being researched in the H2Alpin research project.
